From Rooney reciting Shakespeare to vodka in a drip pouch.
This weeks most memorable.
01 — Brand
Wayne Rooney reciting Shakespeare in an Elizabethan ruff, skull in hand, ahead of the World Cup. It shouldn't work and yet it absolutely does. A patriotic rally cry to get behind England, delivered in the most gloriously unexpected way possible. Roll on June.
02 — Venue
A derelict Wigan mill reborn as a competitive social bar: interactive darts, shuffleboard, beer pong, late DJs and Detroit-style pizza. Factory Floor, Wigan, thirty minutes from Manchester and proof that a good night out doesn't have to happen in the city centre. We'll see you on the shuffleboard.
03 — Campaign
An insurance brand running ads that "accidentally" glitch, flip upside down, switch language mid-sentence or vanish off screen entirely. The whole gag is things going wrong, which is rather the point when you're selling cover for exactly that. Brave, funny and completely on-message from Hiscox.
04 — Podcast
One to add to the list this week. Rick Rubin sits down with David Senra to talk creativity, instinct and the making of The Creative Act. Two people who think deeply about why great work gets made, with no soundbites and no rush. The kind of listen that quietly rewires how you approach your own.
05 — Packaging
Vodka in a semi-transparent pouch rather than the usual heavy glass. It's a small move that feels genuinely surprising in a category that rarely strays from the bottle. Proof there's still room to do something different on a shelf full of sameness.
