Last week I attended an interesting Pricing for Growth event at the MAA in London, whilst there I took a look at some of the wonderful retail experiences the city had to offer.

Selfridges, Oxford St
Walking down Oxford St I was instantly drawn in by the beautiful window displays, with their ‘Shakespeare Refashioned’ theme. Each window showed a designers interpretation of a line from a Shakespeare play, the window also had a vinyl telling you the store location of each designer.

I took myself through the revolving doors to explore how they had brought this theme in-store, and I wasn’t disappointed. The balcony scene from Romeo & Juliet was displayed with full splendour of the famous mezzanine columns. As retail experiences go, it is a beautifully executed example of visual merchandising that fully utilised the location, with a modern twist on the works of a national treasure.

Pimms, South Molten Street
Whilst walking along South Molten Street I came across a nod to Wimbledon season with a pop up Pimms store. The waiters where dressed in white tennis attire, and it had a customer engagement point in the form of an large emtpy picture frame for customers to take pictures (selfies!).

Magnum Pleasure Store
This was a beautifully branded store experience – customers are able to customise their own magnum for a flat fee of £4.50. The colours of the store were the colours of the chocolate, and in the store window was a giant Magnum lolly (if only it were real…).

I had a real customisation experience with my ice-cream and was advised by the girl behind the counter what goes together and what was the most popular.

The walls were decorated with inspirational quotes, and the London eye + London were on the wall made from the wooden lolly pop sticks, all with the social media engagement #MagnumLDN.

On the way back to the station I popped into our Sharps Baker Street flagship store, to see first-hand the amazing work we had done there and chat to the team about the difference it made.

All in all a very productive, enjoyable day off site seeing some of the best retail experiences London has to offer!
