It’s always a pleasure to curate some new trends in the world of home, lifestyle & gardens for 2024-25. And this edition is bigger and bolder than ever before.

As a teaser, here are some of the trends we’ve identified.

Home & lifestyle trends

  1. Multi-species homes: The trend of treating pets like family members continues to grow, influencing product and service offerings in the pet industry.
  2. The home office becomes permanent: With the increasing focus on remote work, the home office has evolved into a permanent fixture, leading to a surge in demand for ergonomic furniture and innovative soundproofing solutions.
  3. Live consciously: This trend emphasises making ethical, sustainable, and values-driven choices in daily life, including using solar panels, LED lighting, and energy-efficient appliances.
  4. Restful restoration: Rest is no longer viewed as a passive activity but as something to actively pursue and monitor. This trend focuses on adopting rest-promoting habits and creating sensorial and biophilic homes.
  5. Accessible and inclusive: This trend focuses on making homes safe and accessible for individuals with physical disabilities, including considerations such as furniture placement, lower closet rods, open shelving, and extra seating.
  6. Smarter homes: The rise of smart home technology is transforming daily routines, with features such as voice control, smart lighting, kitchen appliances, and robot cleaners becoming increasingly popular.
  7. Playtime: This trend emphasises the importance of play and entertainment in the home, with a focus on tactile activities like cooking and hosting, as well as screen-based entertainment such as gaming and streaming.

Garden Trends

  1. Outdoor living trends include alfresco bathing, luxe lighting, extending indoor spaces and tiles that make a statement. We’re also seeing smaller spaces and are being more brave with colour, to name a few!
  2. The “smart home” trend has expanded into outdoor spaces, with homeowners embracing convenient and energy-efficient solutions like voice-activated assistants, automated lighting systems, smart thermostats, and advanced security features.
  3. AI is revolutionising gardening with robots handling maintenance tasks like lawnmowing, while AI-driven design suggestions and reminder apps streamline garden care.
  4. There is a growing emphasis on connection among gardeners, with a rise in mobile apps and virtual garden communities fostering a sense of community for like-minded individuals.
  5. Growing your own food is gaining popularity, with traditional vegetable gardening, no-dig methods, and creative integration of edible plants into borders or containers.
  6. The trend towards wildlife gardening and the acceptance of messy areas within the garden is becoming more common, with a focus on planting schemes for pollinators and repurposing or reusing materials to minimise waste.
  7. Simpler living through gardening is on the rise, with more people opting for self-sufficiency by growing their own food and tending to livestock, leading to versatile garden spaces promoting a more sustainable and fulfilling outdoor lifestyle.
  8. A sensory garden can enhance mindfulness, grounding individuals in the present moment through sounds, water features, and fragrant flowers and herbs.
